Importance of color study

Importance color study

Every designer and Photo editor must know the color combination. Besides being inspired from other's work I would request you to emphasize also on color theory. I mean if you can study how color works and how they affects us then you'll surely become more efficient in dealing with colors. And believe me that will help you to increase your creative skills. Try to achieve a firmed grasp on color theory and its usage in designs. My friendly suggestion would be for you to study following stuffs from multiple sources to get a good feel about color theory as a whole. color wheel : primary, secondary and tertiary colors color harmony, color emotion tints, shades and tones hue, saturation, luminance contrast, highlights, brightness opaque, translucent/semi-transparent, transparent Hope you're already familiar with some of them (i.e. opacity, transparency). Now you should take the rest at your hand to master those. Believe me you'll find it's a lot of fun when you'll study those.

This study will also help you in your design career of course. Some Suggested Resources: 1) http://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/2/sources-for-color-theory-or-psychology-of-color (that includes several links to relevant resources which are invaluable study materials regarding color theory) 2) Digital-Tutors has several Training Titles on Color Theory. I highly recommend to study at least one of them. I've put some titles below: i) http://www.digitaltutors.com/tutorial/271-Fundamentals-of-Color-Theory [if you can then it's a must have training] ii) http://www.digitaltutors.com/tutorial/1760-Understanding-Color-Theory-in-Concept-Art-and-Illustration iii) http://www.digitaltutors.com/tutorial/1021-Color-Theory-for-Todays-Creative-Professionals 3) Try to find "Color Wheel" and "Color Emotion" etc. on Google Images. 4) From YouTube, try to study individual items I recommended earlier above. "Transparent, Translucent, Opaque" as example. You've got an idea :) Friends, It was my first doc here in this group. I'm so embarrassed about my casual writing. I've tried to make it informational rather than a tutorial. That is worthless until it can help at least an individual to direct her to study what, why, how and where about color theory. Actually I didn't try to discuss what color theory is and why it's so important to study about this. Instead, I was intended to suggest some materials and to pushing you for learning color theory. And hopefully your feedback will inspire me to write something better next time.
